Saintly view of life's challenges.

Sometimes the challenges we face in life are crosses that may be 'God-sent' and we should bear and carry them with the help of His Grace throughout our lives for His Glory and He surely rewards with a Heavenly throne for those who carry their crosses faithfully without personal deception and a life of sin but striving daily to live Holy lives despite the trials and temptations and seeking for His Mercy when we fall while trusting in His unfailing love and mercy. We should persevere in all the challenges to keep burning that enduring faith.

Reflection on Diary No. 913-915 (Divine Mercy)

Reflection on Diary No. 913-915 (Divine Mercy) Daily Mass for seminarians, for priests and some other devoted Christians can take us into a temptation of taking Mass as a routine, so lightly! Here at seminary, it is a school rule for everyone to attend Mass daily, even back at the parish, it is almost the same, for some of us. We need to reflect about the Holy Mass and ask for God’s grace to always actively take part in Mass and to worthly receive Him in the Holy Communion just as the CCC No. 1415 and the following teach us. We have heard how St. Maria Faustina saw the crucified Jesus, nailed to the cross and in great agony #No.913. Note that this is away from her routine as she testifies and I quote “I thought I would see the little Jesus, as I often do” Dear brothers (and sisters), we all may not become Mystics or at least we may not get the grace but we are called to stay firm in faith and prayer as St. Paul teaches in 1 Corinthians 16:13 and in 1Timothy 2: 8 Do you believe?...

WHENEVER!

Date: Jun 25, 2024 Whenever.  Whenever the sky turns to a twilight hue, And the stars emerge in their silent grace, I ponder the realms where souls renew, Beyond the bounds of time and space. Whenever the wind whispers through the trees, Carrying secrets from realms unseen, I dream of a place where spirits are free, In a world beyond the in-between. Whenever I see one killing another, I think of the life that follows strife, A realm of peace where none suffer, The life after this life. Whenever I see one undermining another, I think of a world with no need for might, Where all are equal, each a sister or brother, The life after this life. Whenever I see one abusing another, Because of appearance, race, or color, I dream of a place where souls discover, They are colorless, race less, pure as light. "Obulamu buno nga buvuddeko" Whenever the dawn breaks the night's embrace, Unveiling the day with tender light, I sense a journey to a serene place, Where souls find rest, bath...

The Struggling Sinner

Date: Jun 18, 2024 The Struggling Sinner by SSEKAYIBA BENJAMIN In shadows deep, where sorrow lingers, A heart once pure, now stained by fingers Of choices made in moments weak, A soul's redemption yet to seek. He walks the path of twilight's grace, A weary mask upon his face, With burdens heavy, sins confessed, In search of solace, peaceful rest. He stumbles, falls, the sin embraced, Then seeks forgiveness, sin erased. But soon again, temptation's call, He sins once more, again to fall. The night is long, the stars are dim, The sinner's eyes are rimmed with grim, Yet hope still flickers, faint but real, A promise of a chance to heal. He bows his head, confesses sin, Then rises, strives to start again. But shadows creep, and he’s ensnared, The cycle starts, he’s unprepared. In quiet prayers, his spirit bends, Very easy for him to fall off the lane of holiness, But struggles to find his way back, To find a way where darkness ends. A journey fraught with thorns and pain, ...

The Burdened Believer

The burdened believer In a chapel, silent, still, A soul seeks solace, breaks its will. Knees on cold stone, hands entwined, Prayers rise, a heart defined.   Whispers of grace, a plea for peace, In this sacred place, burdens release. Eyes closed tight, seeking light, In the quiet of the night.   From lips, the words do flow, Faith and hope in fervent glow. A yearning heart, a whispered plea, “God, grant me serenity.”   Amen murmured, echoes fade, A soul uplifted, promises made. Steps retrace, out the door, Into the world, grace restored.   But when asked, “How are you?” A sigh escapes, old worries accrue. Complaints and woes spill like rain, Despite the prayer, despite the gain.       “Oh, the burdens,” they declare, Forgetting the peace found in prayer. A heart that seeks, yet cannot see, The blessings granted, the soul set free.   In the quiet chapel, grace bestowed, But in daily life, the weight still sowed. A reminder needed, gentle, tr...

STEPS OF FAITH

Steps of faith In the shadows of doubt, where challenges loom, Before the first step, whispers of gloom. Yet within us, a spark waiting to ignite, Faith blooms in darkness, a guiding light. With courage, we step into the unknown, A journey unfolding, seeds of strength sown. Each stride, a testament to the spirit’s might, For in every struggle, faith takes flight. Amidst trials, when the road seems steep, Grace whispers softly, comforting the deep. Not by our strength alone, we persevere, But by divine grace, erasing every fear. The path may be rugged, winding and long, Yet with every hurdle, we grow strong. For beyond the struggle, a purpose we embrace, Fueled by God’s grace, we find our place. In the tapestry of challenges, resilience we weave, Through faith and courage, our spirits achieve. Desire to finish, a flame burning bright, A testament to God’s grace, guiding us through the night. Grace Amidst the Gallows

Two thieves on crosses, a scene profound, In their choices, a truth is found. One in despair, the other in grace, In their final moments, they found their place. On crosses raised, on Calvary’s hill, Two men hung, their fates fulfilled. Beside the Savior, they bore their pain, Two thieves, their stories in shadows lain. One mocked and scorned, his heart unbound, In bitterness, his voice did resound. “Save yourself and us!” he cried, With hardened heart, he stayed denied. But the other, humbled and contrite, Recognized truth in the fading light. “Lord, remember me,” he pled, Grace-filled words before he bled. To him, the Savior turned His face, Assured him of eternal grace. “Today, in paradise, we will meet,” Words of comfort, oh, so sweet.   Two thieves, two choices stark and clear, One in faith, one in doubt and fear. A lesson for all, on that sacred day, The power of redemption in the words they would  say. Inspired by Luke 23:32-43. Compiled by Cliffdevis Lubega

LET THEM CALL US PRETENDERS.

How they dispise our praise, Enviously look at us pray, Whenever we worship, Or read the bible verses. How they shout at us, Calling us pretending Africans, But however much you call us pretenders, We shall never weaken in faith! Kanakulya James, 21 Makerere University.

THE BEAUTY IN GIVING

Giving out of free will, Without expecting something in return, From a pure heart, To those in need. Feeding the hungry, Dressing the poor, Housing the widows, Helping the disabled. Giving from the little we posses, Yet we receive in abundance, Blessings from the Heavens, For the better of the giver. Kanakulya James, 21

TECHONTRAST (a poem)

How you have turned this life so social, The world into one global village, With access to information on the go, And work being done from home on screens, And processes becoming simpler every single day, How you are praised by everyone, Investing thousands to millions in you, Not to be left behind by this global whooze, Becoming a husband and wife to many, A teacher to the another, How you have exposed the young to illicit, Spoiling millions into immorality, How you've turned people poor, And others forced to steal, How addictive you strike! How colonialism continues through you, And spyware everywhere, How you make men unequal, Taking away the real we, Into merely moving robots! Kanakulya James, 21 Makerere University Business School.
